Abstract

This article is condensed from a doctoral dissertation that aims to find a more applicable model to manage the whole life of all records in all media in the information age. It is based on a study of archival theories and practices using content analysis, case study, and comparative methods. This study constructs a new model named “Interactive and Integrated Model for the Management of Documents, Records, and Archives (I2 DRA).” I2 DRA merges the advantages of the life-cycle and records continuum models, bridges their gaps, and highlights information openness, information governance architecture, long-term preservation, risk management, and other critical characteristics.
