Abstract

Each year, a cohort of twenty Iowa State University professionals are selected to be a part of the NCORE-ISCORE Professional Development Academy. This year-long experience is a commitment to increasing awareness, knowledge, and skills as it relates to race and ethnicity. Participants engage in a dialogical process that builds their awareness and connection to other professionals across campus. Throughout this session, the facilitators will lead the audience through an abbreviated part of their journey to help registrants prepare for the ISCORE experience. The session will end with a panel of Iowa State professionals sharing how this model helped them maximize their conference experience. They will also highlight the advantages of support from professionals across campus. Participants will leave this session with an understanding of the benefits of participating in the Professional Development Academy and an understanding of the roles faculty and staff play in influencing campus climate.
