Abstract
The Three Sisters method of raising corn, beans, and squash has been used by Indigenous Peoples for centuries and remains highly valued. Some farmers trained in Western traditions consider the Three Sisters to be a sustainable agricultural practice and want to utilize it. One panelist will discuss the agronomic practice and their relationship with Native nations. A second panelist will discuss their work on Three Sisters projects but without a direct relationship to Native nations. A third panelist will discuss their involvement working with Native nations, but not in relation to the Three Sisters. Panelists will invite discussion and stories from the group. This topic serves as part of a doctoral dissertation regarding underrepresented communities and their traditional knowledge as it pertains to contemporary, sustainable agricultural practices.
