Abstract
This presentation will uncover racial disparities present on college campuses and discuss how these disparities affect the overall experience and success of students of color, even after graduation. We will explore and compare campus resources at three institutions: Iowa State University, a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), and another Predominantly White Institution (PWI). We will examine how housing and food insecurities affect students on these different campuses. The presentation will also include interviews with students and higher education practitioners on how their first-hand knowledge and experience can give insight into what resources students can take advantage of or would like to see improved on Iowa State’s campus.
