Abstract

The impact of war on human lives, economies, and education cannot be over emphasized. In most cases, when a country is at war, all efforts are put toward saving human lives by ensuring that the affected people have access to basic human needs such as food and shelter. It is very uncommon for people to worry about education, let alone agricultural extension delivery. Therefore, it is not surprising to see that rebuilding and restoring efforts in the provision of services such as agricultural extension and education are usually put on hold until after the war. There is often an expectation that people in conflict zones are always willing and ready to leave their countries when a crisis such as war hits. But is it always true that everyone wants to leave a country when it is at war? If not, what happens to those people who want to stay? In this presentation, we will share the experiences of Ukrainian students still studying in Ukraine despite the war. These students want to stay in the country. Through this presentation, we hope to enhance the audience’s understanding of the importance of belonging.
