Abstract

The College of Design has implemented programs to bridge the gap and create career pathways and college readiness among first-generation, low-income, immigrant, and refugee students. The program seeks to create greater collaboration between high schools and the College by providing students with the required knowledge and skills to apply for college. Implementing the "Learning Partnerships Approach" ensures all students can access the opportunities they deserve. Participants will be able to identify strategies to create these partnerships and, as educators, help students make conscious movements toward independent, self-directed learning, and productive decisions. Participants will develop awareness and strategies to build the capacity to work across dimensions of identity, mindset, and skills.
