Abstract

Pokémon has come a long way since its initial launch in Japan in 1996. The Pokémon franchise has remained relevant in popular culture through their creation of video games, anime, and movies (Laato & Rauti, 2021). Just as Pokémon conveys real-world ideas to teach valuable life lessons regarding human interactions with the world, Comfey Dream aims to incorporate different design techniques through the visual appearance of Pokémon. An asymmetrical lilac dress was inspired by a Pokémon character, Comfey. The boldly ikat-like printed cotton poplin is placed to alternate with the solid lilac color satin throughout the dress to maintain a constant lively vibe. The diagonally pleated design in the skirt's middle section emphasizes the direction in which the floral appliques would be wrapping around the dress. This dress appeals to franchise fans and any other young woman who needs something unique and fun to wear for a special occasion.
