Abstract

I created this triple set in my draping class for the annual fashion show. This look was part of the group theme, An Ode to Audrey, inspired by a timeless fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn. The inspiration for this look was Hepburn's unique feminine self-presentation, which provided new standards for women's fashion and femininity in the 1950s. This look mainly consists of a round-neck boxy tweed jacket and mini-length tweed skirt with an asymmetrical handkerchief hem layer. I also created a sleeveless blouse with a gathered stand collar based on Hepburn's style covering her neck and décolleté area without losing the feminine mood. The focal point of this look is the asymmetrical impeccable handkerchief hem decoration on the skirt, which I created using a draping method. This look embodies modernized Hepburn’s feminine style by combining the classic elegant tweed suit with asymmetrical elements.

Keywords: Audrey Hepburn, femininity, tweed, handkerchief draping effect, subtle boyishness
