Abstract

Technological advances have been presented to enhance challenges of garment fitting by introducing a true-to-size avatar. This study is on the fitting experiences as well as the desired body shape of the tech savvy younger generation, who is the future principle consumer of fashion goods. This study aimed to investigate the Millennial generation's perception on the current size system and future ideal body shape. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews using a questionnaire. Data analysis revealed that young adults are experiencing difficulties with current sizing systems as well as beginning to prefer a new silhouette; the fit hourglass shape. This research brings attention to the future direction of body-scanning technology that will one day enable access to the body shape changes and produce a perfect fit.
