Abstract
The designer sought to explore the approaches of contemporary Japanese designers in a post-modern world. She experimented with the concept of altering body shape by binding and by exaggeration until she found a solution that reflected both. The polyester/ Lycra crepe knit was cut into a lily or lantern-like shape and quilted. In the white fabric, the lines of quilting stitches form the direction of string, binding the form of figure and garment together.
