Dior Revisited
- Sally Holman-Herbert (University of Nebraska)
Abstract
The 1950's fitted bodice, most specifically "the New Look" attributed to Christian Dior, was the inspiration for this ensemble. Rather than developing a gathered skirt of wool to complete the silhouette, a slim wool skirt was designed along with an over-skirt consisting of three sheer flounces of autumnal-colored fabric which created fullness at the hips. The suit was developed using the draping process.
