Abstract
Four antique "mudmee" (silk ikat) sarongs from Thailand were the inspiration for this five-piece ensemble (skirt, pants, blouse, vest, and jacket). Just as the original sarongs use an entire rectangle, the objective was to maximize the use of the ikat fabrics and combine the Thai influences into contemporary easy-to-wear Western fashion. One sarong was used for the skirt, another sarong was used for the pants, and two sarongs were used for the jacket.
