Abstract

The fashion resale market in China lags behind Western markets despite being the largest consumer market. Understanding China’s current fashion resale market and discovering what is holding it back is vital for the whole fashion industry to achieve the sustainable goal. This study aims to address challenges the entire Chinese fashion resale market faces, obstacles the platforms have to deal with, and motivations and barriers that influence Chinese consumers’ participation. A systematic literature review and descriptive meta-analysis were adopted to explore current literature. The findings revealed two primary challenges facing the Chinese fashion resale market, five obstacles confronting fashion resale platforms, and four motivations and four barriers influencing Chinese consumers. This study provides a comprehensive literature review to better understand Chinese fashion resale landscape.
