Transforming Mindsets: The Impact of a Social Entrepreneurship Program on Students' Sustainable Fashion Business Development
Abstract
The Fashion Impact Challenge (FIC) program uniquely teaches interdisciplinary teamwork and social entrepreneurship through sustainable fashion challenges for West Virginia high school and college students. Social entrepreneurship education integrates entrepreneurship with social and environmental goals, fostering skills for creating businesses that address societal issues. Research indicates a positive impact on students' mindsets, affecting attitudes toward social problems and innovation. Interdisciplinary teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity play vital roles in idea generation. Instructors and teaching methods, such as experiential learning and mentorship, significantly shape perspectives. A case study approach assessed the FIC program's effectiveness, analyzing context, participants, and influencing factors, contributing to the ongoing discourse on enhancing social entrepreneurship education.
