Exploring the Potentials and Challenges of Implementing Generative Artificial Intelligence Tools in Visual Merchandising for Apparel Retailers

Abstract

Visual merchandising is a crucial approach in the apparel retailing since it appeals to consumers' senses, improves their shopping experience, and increases sales. The surge of artificial intelligence has created new opportunities for visual merchandising. This sstudy investigates the potential and problems of using generative artificial intelligence tools in visual merchandising. The findings showed that designs generated by artificial intelligence utilized visual merchandising elements such as lighting, colour schemes, and product presentation. However, the study emphasizes the significance of ongoing review of artificial intelligence capabilities, as well as the need to improve these tools' ability to analyse data and execute prompts more effectively. The study proposes that artificial intelligence should be improved to better analyse data and implement suggestions, and that visual merchandisers should constantly evaluate the capabilities of artificial intelligence  in order to produce effective designs.
