Abstract

This study examines the motivations and challenges of fashion entrepreneurship through a systematic literature review of 29 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000-2023. The research reveals that fashion entrepreneurs are driven by passion, independence, innovation desire, personal fulfillment, and financial rewards, while facing challenges such as financial constraints, market competition, changing consumer mindsets, supply chain management, and personal obligations. The study identifies sustainability and technology as crucial bridging drivers that connect entrepreneurial motivations with industry challenges. These drivers enable entrepreneurs to differentiate offerings, streamline operations, and align with evolving consumer expectations. Using Khan et al.'s (2003) five-step systematic review methodology, this research proposes a conceptual framework that maps the interrelationship between motivations and challenges. The findings contribute to fashion entrepreneurship literature and provide insights for entrepreneurs, stakeholders, and policymakers in creating a supportive ecosystem that fosters sustainable fashion industry development.
