The Infusion of Design Elements of Hanbok into Modern Fashion Styles

Abstract

In this research study, details will be discussed about the infusion of design elements of Hanbok into the modern styles showing various example photos of garments. The researchers believe that this study may contribute to the field of clothing and textiles by providing the results of the current movement of world trends with analysis of traditional Korean garments and it’s history. A total of 100 traditional Korea hanbok and 120 modern fashion images reflecting Korea Hanbok and/or cultures are collected from numerous sources: museum visits, fashion magazines,internet, newspapers, magazines, films, TV shows, student fashion shows, and websites. Designs elements in western fashions can be found in East Asian countries Korea Hanbok (elements,such as: Textile Pattern Design (Motifs), Garment Pattern Design, Colors,Embroidery Methods, Silhouette, Line, Construction Methods, Utility, and Fit. Many female outfits are significantly influenced by Korea Hanbok costume design both runway and mass production.
