Abstract

The Quad Cities region of Iowa and Illinois is home to many different cultural and historical organizations. Since 2018, the Quad Cities (QC) Archives Fair has been held at a historic location with over 20 participating organizations showcasing their diverse collections and services. The event connects audiences from both sides of the river as they visit tables to learn about local organizations’ unique displays, listen to talks on historical topics, and discover hidden gems of the Quad Cities. The QC Archives Fair is an innovative way to share the collections and the work of our cultural and historical organizations by encouraging networking between participants and attendees and the future use of their collections. It is a free event that seeks to promote the organizations involved as well as the historic location hosting the event.

Join members of the planning committee as they share the strategies used to plan, execute, and evaluate the Quad Cities Archives Fairs. In addition, the poster will discuss the successes, challenges, and impact of this cross-organizational and cross-state collaborative outreach event. The QC Archives Fair event is a unique community opportunity that encourages advocacy and collaboration between its cultural and historical organizations and its community.
